CES 2024: 11 Exciting pet tech innovations to keep an eye on

Earlier this month, 135,000 attendees of the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) descended on Las Vegas. More than 4,000 company representatives showed off the latest products at the cutting edge of consumer technology. As you’d imagine, CES consists of everything from gaming, to now automotive and health tech, but as pets become an extension of our family, they become more prevalent in consumer tech.

Pet technology companies flocked to show their desire to promote an improved life for people and our furry friends. Let’s explore 11 exciting companies across health and wellness, allergen reduction and purification, and companionship and entertainment.

Pet health and symptom trackers

We’re seeing big advances in smart pet health devices that detect and track conditions and significant health issues such as heart disease. We love our pets with all of our hearts, so it makes sense that we’d keep an eye on theirs to find out the issues in advance.

Much like in human health, the use of preventative measures and tracking, not only, improves the quality of life component pets, but also reduces visits to vets (by supporting care management), as well as insurance (as treatments are expensive). Expect to see more here going forward.

1. Invoxia: Comprehensive pet health tracker for early disease diagnoses

Invoxia’s Smart Dog Collar is a standout innovation for pet health monitoring, as it provides crucial data for early disease diagnosis and preventive care. This collar tracks real-time movements and vital signs. Their newest product, Minitailz, uses AI and biometric sensors for early heart disease symptoms.

2. Ilume: Integrated pet health and nutrition system

There are many pet activity trackers out there, and Ilume’s holistic approach to pet care is a bit different. It combines activity tracking with nutrition management. Their Activity Tracker and Smart Bowl help pet owners ensure they’re feeding their pets the right portion and the tracker informs the nutrition program, based on their daily activities and health needs.

3. SmartSound: Advanced AI-driven pet healthcare and diagnoses

SmartSound provides access to more data, such as resting and sleeping heart rates, with its AI-powered WITHaPET® app. This technology enables early diagnosis of cardiopulmonary diseases, representing a significant step forward in veterinary medicine and proactive treatment by detecting diseases early on.

4. Domethics: Health monitoring in the form of a bed

While many other pet health technologies are in the form of wearables, Italian company Domethics introduced Carepet, a dog bed for real-time pet health monitoring. The bed collects information about heart rate, respiration, sleep, and environmental factors to help identify mobility, cardiac, or itching issues before they become a bigger challenge.

Smart and connected pet homes

Homes are being connected to make them work better for humans and our pets. The form function, ability to fit existing settings, and geo recognition are enhancing pet consumer tech. We’re curious to see how noseprint and facial recognition will change the game in the future.

5. Pawport: A dog door with unprecedented control and security

Imagine a dog door that provides the freedom for your dog to go and come, but also provides security and protection. Pawport is solving this with its geo-enabled technology that opens and closes the pet door based on your dog’s proximity to the door, using a tag on the pet’s collar. Plus an app allows opening and closing the pet door remotely.

6. Whisker: Prioritizing odor control with self-cleaning litter boxes

Whisker is known for its self-cleaning litter boxes—who wants to scoop litter, anyway?—and at CES it featured an upgraded litter robot that tracks waste and litter levels as well as helps with odor control. The deodorization ability using carbon compartments and the reduced noise functionality showed huge potential to prioritize the health and wellness of humans and cats.

7. Samsung: Pet tracking and virtual vet visits within existing tech

Samsung put on a large pet display at CES, focusing on the GalaxyTag2 for pet tracking via a collar tag and on-demand vet services through your Samsung TV and phone. This example brings to life how consumer tech and pet tech are merging to make things like medical care and GPS tracking more accessible.

Companionship and entertainment solutions for pets

The importance of mental health is not only for humans but also for our pets. Just as COVID created loneliness and caused many people to struggle with social skills, the same can be said for our pets. More pets are dependent on their owners and suffer from separation anxiety. Logically, companies at CES would bring solutions to help support companionship and entertainment.

8. Omgen: Autonomous pet companion

Omgen’s AI-powered pet robot called Oro offers companionship and entertainment to pets when you’re not at home. The robot features interactive capabilities such as two-way audio, a ball thrower, and a treat dispenser, using advanced AI to adapt to a pet’s behavior and provide a new level of care and interaction.

9. One by One Music: Therapeutic music for pets

One by One Music offers a music service to alleviate pet stress and anxiety. The scientifically-backed music is designed under veterinary supervision to improve pet well-being, reflecting the company’s commitment to pet mental health.

Allergen reduction and purification solutions for pet parents

As pet ownership rises, allergens have become an increasing challenge, especially as childhood food allergies have become more prevalent in recent years. With a larger population of people dealing with allergies to pet dander, we need better air purification at home, so it’s comfortable for our pets and us. At CES, the following companies put on a strong showing.

10. Kaltech: Air purification for pet-friendly homes

Kaltech’s photocatalyst-based air purification systems address the challenge of pet allergies and odors. These systems, superior to traditional HEPA filters, significantly improve the home environment by removing 98% of dog dander and 94% of cat dander in 24 hours, leading to cleaner air in pet homes.

11. AbsFur: 3-in-1 pet care system

Korean company AbsFur presented a versatile 3-in-1 care system with hair suction for grooming, drying for bathing, and air purification for home cleaning. With a HEPA 13 filter and UV-C LED, multiple modes, and an advanced 3-axis sensor, AbsFur simplifies pet grooming while reducing allergens and improving air quality.

CES 2024 showcased a diverse range of pet tech innovations, from beds that monitor pet health vitals to autonomous pet companions. These technologies reflect the industry’s commitment to integrating technology into pet care, enhancing the well-being and quality of life for pets and their owners. At The Digital PawPrint, we’re excited to witness the evolution of pet tech, and we welcome other CES 2024 participants to connect for potential coverage in future editions.
