Inside the pet tech revolution at CES 2025: From health monitoring to pet smart homes

At CES 2025, the massive Las Vegas convention center was abuzz with the next generation of pet technology. Major tech giants stood shoulder-to-shoulder with scrappy startups, all vying to capture the attention of the rapidly growing "pet-sumer" market—a segment that has exploded as millennials and Gen Z increasingly prioritize pet parenthood.

With U.S. pet industry spending projected to surpass $150 billion this year, companies are investing heavily in solutions that address the healthcare, comfort, and companionship needs of pets. This year’s event showcased innovations across health monitoring, smart home integration, and robotic companionship—each redefining how we care for our animal family members. Now, not everything was novel, and so much of technology is iterative, but it remains clearer from the 10+ companies and products featured here that more investment is coming.

Health monitoring and well-being

Technology for pet health is quickly catching up with human healthcare. This year’s CES highlighted products focused on proactive care, early disease detection, and overall well-being, with a data-driven focus on improving their pets’ lives.

WithaPet AI by iSmartSound

WithaPet AI is an AI-powered health monitoring device designed for early heart and respiratory disease detection in pets. This device conducts heart and lung auscultation and transmits the data to veterinarians through a secure online portal. The system can detect murmurs, valve issues, lung crackles, and wheezing—conditions that are often overlooked until they become severe.

Vet AI by X Caliber (SK Telecom)

Vet AI by X Caliber, developed by SK Telecom, uses AI to analyze X-ray images in real-time. This tool helps vets diagnose diseases faster and more accurately, leading to conditions being treated faster and better health outcomes. This is one example of bringing human-level healthcare advancements into veterinary practice.

Tractive GPS and health tracker

Tractive’s latest tracker has evolved from a location device into a comprehensive health monitor. Its bark monitoring feature detects anxiety and behavioral issues by analyzing barking patterns. The company also plans to introduce resting heart rate and respiratory monitoring, offering early detection of potential health issues. The combination of location tracking and health monitoring makes it a must-have for proactive pet care.

PurrSong LavvieTag Pro

The LavvieTag Pro smart collar by PurrSong is specifically designed to track cats’ activity and behavioral changes. It integrates with the LavvieBot smart litter box, giving owners insights into their cat’s health and habits. This comprehensive system makes early detection of issues like urinary tract infections or obesity easier and more actionable.

Smart home integration

As pets become equal stakeholders in our households, smart home devices are being designed with their comfort and safety in mind. This year’s CES showcased how homes are evolving to create seamless, pet-friendly environments.

Pawport Smart Pet Door

Pawport’s Smart Pet Door offers a secure, automated way for pets to move in and out of the home. Using a Bluetooth-enabled collar tag, the door automatically unlocks for pets while keeping intruders out. Owners can control access through a mobile app and even schedule when the door is accessible. Customizable RGB lighting adds a touch of personalization, blending functionality with style.

LG AeroCatTower

The LG AeroCatTower merges air purification with pet comfort by combining a high-performance air purifier with a stylish cat tower. The tower includes a built-in scale to track a cat’s weight, integrating with the LG ThinQ app for real-time health updates. This represents how companies are designing smart home devices to accommodate pets’ comfort and well-being.

Petgugu automated self-flushing smart cat toilet

Petgugu introduced a self-flushing smart cat toilet, eliminating the need for manual cleaning. Beyond keeping litter boxes clean, the toilet tracks usage patterns to help detect health issues like urinary tract infections. It connects to an app for real-time monitoring, providing peace of mind for cat owners concerned about hygiene and pet health.

Peto Cybershark grooming device

Peto’s Cybershark is a multifunctional grooming tool that combines a vacuum, brush, and massager into one device. It simplifies grooming while providing a comfortable and calming experience for pets. The integrated vacuum keeps loose hair contained and makes the grooming process cleaner and less stressful for both pets and owners.

Samsung Vision AI for pet monitoring

Samsung’s Vision AI adds a new layer of security and care for pets. Integrated into Samsung’s smart TVs and devices, Vision AI can detect unusual pet behavior and alert owners in real time. Whether it’s catching signs of distress or destructive behavior, Samsung is making smart home devices more pet-conscious.

GPet 6-Tech intelligent global pet tracker

GPet introduced a pet tracker with six advanced positioning technologies—including GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular networks. This tracker provides real-time tracking, a 100m search radar, and global geofencing capabilities to ensure pets are always safe. Beyond location tracking, GPet delivers AI-powered wellness insights, including activity monitoring and health alerts. Also, its interactive features like PawCast and PawTalk improve communication between owners and pets.

Why CES needs a dedicated pet tech section

The innovations showcased at CES 2025 make it clear that pet tech is not a niche market but a driving force in consumer technology. From health monitoring devices like WithaPet AI to smart home integrations such as Samsung Vision AI and emotionally intelligent robotic companions like Tombot’s Jennie, this sector is transforming how we care for our pets.

However, pet tech products remain scattered across broader CES categories, limiting their visibility. With U.S. pet industry spending projected to surpass $150 billion, it’s evident that pets influence significant consumer spending. Owners are increasingly prioritizing their pets’ health, comfort, and well-being. A pet tech section at CES would:

  • Spotlight innovation: Showcase pioneering products that improve pet care

  • Attract investors: Accelerate growth in the section with focused attention from investors

  • Improve consumer access: Make it easier for pet owners to discover relevant products

As smart homes become more inclusive of pets’ needs and health technology becomes more proactive, CES must recognize the growing significance of pet tech. Pet tech is not just a trend—it’s a transformative industry. It’s time CES gave it the recognition and dedicated space it deserves.
